What is the Highlights TeacherNet WebRing?
The Highlights TeacherNet Web Ring is an online network of websites containing educational material that benefit educators, homeschoolers and parents.
Websites containing teaching materials, lesson plans or any other educational content for grades K through 8 are encouraged to apply. If you are submitting a classroom website, the content contained in your webpages should not be specific to your school. Every site submitted must include some free educational content. If your site meets the criteria and you affirm the Highlights TeacherNet Statement of Philosophy you will be notified via email of your site's acceptance in the Highlights TeacherNet Web Ring.
Highlights TeacherNet Web Ring Statement of Philosophy
Children are the world's most valuable resource. As education professionals in publishing and classroom instruction, we pledge to assume a leadership role in preparing our children for the future. Leadership requires we inspire learning by our own example. We will recognize individual differences in children, and encourage, motivate, and challenge them to succeed in school. We will work with parents and the community as partners to ensure an integrated, educational experience.
Member Selection Criteria
We select our Web Ring members by reviewing the website. To qualify for membership, your website should meet the following criteria:
The content has educational value of interest to our audience of K-8 classroom teachers, homeschoolers and parents.
Site content should be non-political and non-denominational.
Your site is not static - you perform regular updates that include new content.
Your site does not include advertising from a banner-exchange program.
The site is not hosted by a community service with forced "pop-up" advertising.
Your site design is simple and functional. We reject websites with music, busy animations, or bandwidth-intensive multimedia features.
The site must be updated at least once a month.
Your site may include commerce, but we exclude commerce-only sites.
Your site must have a Privacy Policy on the main screen, or you must agree to adopt the terms of the Highlights TeacherNet Web Ring Privacy Policy, as shown below.
While we welcome applications from all educational sites that meet these criteria, membership in the Web Ring is awarded at the sole discretion of Highlights TeacherNet. Highlights TeacherNet also reserves the right to remove Web Ring members at any time.
