Welcome to Highlights Literacy Lights. Our goal is to support educators' objectives in fostering
literacy development while encouraging parent involvement in the classroom and at home. Within our Literacy
Lights Pages you'll find strategies for reading, critical thinking and reasoning, as well as lesson plans.
"New on Literacy Lights" includes the latest updates to the
site. Engaging activities, ideas and strategies to enhance the school/home connection can be found in this
section. Visit with us often!
"Teaching with Highlights Literacy Lights" includes
practical tools teachers can use in the classroom to complement their literacy objectives.
"Teaching with Families as Partners for Learning"
includes resources for collaborating with your students' families. Topics from this section can be
reproduced and sent home with your students to reinforce reading and learning at home.
"Literacy with Dr. Lesley Mandel Morrow" for Teachers and Parents includes
thematic contributions from Dr. Morrow, and her team of teachers. Dr. Morrow is Professor of Early
Childhood & Literacy Education at Rutgers University and President Elect of the International Reading
Association.
